"Peace in our backyard." - Julian Dowle

Not just ordinary garden...designed to realise one's dreams

Celebrating peace 60 years after World War II, this awards-winning garden was designed based on the dreams of home by soldiers at war by a UK prominent landscape deisgner, Julina Dowle. The English country pub garden, namely The Chelsea Pensioner's Garden - A Soldier's Dream of Blighty is recreated in Singapore Garden Festival at Suntec.

This version however is English by design but seen thru the eyes of soldiers in the tropics; using tropical plants and materials in a very English style. There are a cottage as pub, table and bench in front, a vegetable garden, and low plantings around the traditional English timber fence. The whole garden is bedecked with plants and flowers, which although tropical, evoke memories of home.

Do come over to Suntec for this festival, the showcase of the creations of top award-winning landscape and garden designers, florists and horticulturists from the Chealsea Flower Show, Philadelphia Flower Show, Floriade (Holland), Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, Laman (Malaysia) and many more.
I have gained a lot during the festival...will share later.
